Even though we've done many musicals in past years, this was by far our biggest event. About 350 people were involved in one way or another. The stage was raised and we had 3 tiers. Part of this design was copied from the Musical I went to in Toronto, Canada. From there, we improvised to meet our needs.
I gained a lot of experience just by being involved with the Staging department. One day before we started painting, I had a nightmare. I dreamed that I didn't know how to paint. Thank God everything went on smoothly. We certainly had a great team of helpers. Uncle Lim headed the top portion of the Stage while I took over the bottom part. The teamwork was simply amazing.
On the first night, we had FULL house. More than 1000 people came. We had to turn some away because there simply wasn't any space left. We asked some of our church members not to come the following two days if they had seen it on the 1st night. People streamed in from as far as KL, Malacca and even Penang.
Thank God for decisions made over three nights!
